Water Tank Covers

In order to protect stored water from contamination and evaporation, water tanks of all sizes should have sturdy and well-fitted covers. However, many tanks, especially older types and larger tanks for industrial applications, may not have covers which are made to the correct specifications.
At Precolor Tank Division, we can manufacture GRP water storage tank covers to the shape and size of your tank installation.  Each GRP cover is self-supporting or centrally supported, in order to prevent placing structural stress on the existing tank infrastructure.  Many existing industrial water storage tanks require lightweight covers, as they were not originally designed to bear extra weight.  Glass reinforced plastic is a very light material for its rigidity, making it ideal for this application.  Other benefits of GRP covers are that they are chemically resistant and will not degrade with prolonged UV exposure, neither will they rust like steel.

Lightweight Covers

Dust, organics such as algae, dead wildlife, and atmospheric contaminants can all pollute a store of water and make it unfit for its intended purpose.  By fitting even the largest storage tanks with water tank covers, it is possible to drastically reduce the amount of foreign material present in the contents.  Measures such as filtration and decontamination measures can then work efficiently to make the water suitable for use.

Even when water us stored for basic industrial purposes such as the cooling of equipment, and therefore does not need to be purified, it is still advisable to fit cold water storage tank covers.  These weatherproof covers will prevent your stored water from evaporating, and also keep out debris which may damage pumping systems or pipework.
